Grunge killed off thrash in the mainstream- labels looking for grunge bands etc, so thrash never died as such but just lost a lot of the support to keep it afloat- aside from some of the bigger bands that had the draw and power to sell lp’s/tour successfully etc. Ok, this is a bit of a light touch on a more complicated situation but imo this ....
